Oaks & Hearst

So it's been a while and I've got quite a few adventures to catch you up on. First of all our experience in SanDiego at our first AirBnB was amazing! We had our own nice bathroom and master bedroom to ourselves. We shared the house we were staying in with some fun people too. It is definitely the way to travel on a budget but still wanting a nice place to stay at. Although I hoping we didn't get too spoiled with our first experience.

Secondly we love seeing people! If we are in your area let us know, we would love to see you and your favorite things of where you live. One of those great people we were able to see was my friend Ashley from nursing school. It was a blast catching up with her and getting to meet her super cute baby.
After we had some yummy lunch on the pier

After a quick stop in San Clemente we made our way up to see our friends Heather & Taylor (Matt's good friend from high school) and their really funny kids. -Quote from their son to Matt "Let's be happy Tigers"
It was great visiting with them and just getting to hang out for a couple days. So we kind of skipped LA because we didn't want to deal with the traffic there, our disney day fell through, and we weren't really set on seeing downtown since we have both been there before. So sorry LA, maybe next time. We ate at some really great restaurants with them, BJs was my favorite. We also went on a great bike ride with Taylor amongst all of these oak trees, it was beautiful! Sadly I was terrible about taking pictures during our relaxing weekend. The only ones we took were as we were leaving. I guess we will just have to remember the fun times.

When we left their place we made our way up the coast to Morro Bay and camped for the very first time together. And it was a success! We found a great little camp spot, ate some chips&salsa, played some games and snuggled up to keep warm. Luckily Matt did not try to scare me this trip, but I'm sure he will later.

We also went to Hearst castle in San Simeon. It's amazing what a lot of money and a big dream can do. This Newspaper Tycoon William Hearst built himself a mediterranean mansion here. The views were incredible and the tour was pretty fun ($25 for the basic). Lots of famous people have stayed here including F. Scott Fitzgerald, and I am pretty sure he got his inspiration for Great Gatsby based on this place. It was huge! Unfortunately Matt was very allergic to this old house so we didn't stay too long to explore.

We also went to visit the elephant seals near by, they are pretty funny looking.

Our lunch of salsa and queso! Matt is never a messy eater so I had to capture this moment

On our way up we had the chance to meet up with my Uncle Brock (Broccoli as I called him growing up) to have dinner with him in Monterrey on Fisherman's Wharf.  Lots of yummy clam chowder and sourdough bread bowls here to enjoy!
