We had a very foggy windy and occasionally sunny day in San Fran. We brought our bikes and just toured around the piers mostly. This was a great way to see some of the sites of the city because we didn't have to worry about traffic or paying for parking. We biked across the Golden Gate bridge to get in to the city and then back to our car at the Vista point on the other side (aka free parking!) It was a great way to appreciate the bridge and actually see it! All that biking made for some sore bums though.
This was our view of the Golden Gate bridge when we got there and it stayed that way pretty much all day. Yup it's there somewhere.![]() |
Just walking around the fine arts center
This place was only suppose to be built to last for a year, thankfully they totally rebuilt it to last

We saw lots of weddings there
We made it to Pier 39 where all the shops are.
And all the Sea Lions hang out here too
Little bit better of a view
We saw a proposal happen right here when we stopped to take some pictures
Top Tips:
1. Make sure if you want to go to Alcatraz to buy the tickets far in advance before you go, I thought of this and then totally spaced it so we didn't get to go
2. You can take the BART in to town so you don't have to deal with traffic
3. You can take the historic trolley up some of the hills.
4. If its cooler inland in Fremont then go to San Fran because it should be clear then
5. You can rent bikes there, don't bother buying a bike map if they offer it there are lots of little maps everywhere telling you where you are and people are great too at giving directions
6. The Bridge is open to bikers but past 3:30 you have to ride on the west side just fyi
