Helena, MT

We visited Matt's Uncle Dave and aunt Cindy in Helena. They live up on a hill with an incredible view of the city, which we got to enjoy till 10:30 pm because that's when the sun finally sets there. Our adventure here was on the Dearborn river with them and a lot of their friends too. We floated down the river while uncle Dave guided and rowed the raft down the river. Matt had a go of it too and did great. Uncle Dave was patient enough to let me have a go at it too. I guess I need to work out my arms more it was quite a work out trying to get it to go and in the right direction. We had beautiful sunny weather the whole time and the cold water felt refreshing this time. We loves spending the day with them and all of their friends were really fun to talk to, lots of them had worked in the forestry or national park system, so I had lots of questions for them.

We went in to Helena on Monday to explore a bit. We went on this cute train trolley tour that pointed out some highlights about town and the history of the place. Helena was one of the places where gold was found and it also use to have more millionaires per capita than anywhere in the world. 

It was such a hot day so we stopped for ice cream of course at the Big Dipper for some huckleberry ice cream. Huckleberries only grow in the wild and are found in this area so they have lots of huckleberry flavored things. It's basically a tart blueberry flavor. We stopped in a few of the cute shops there including aunt Cindy's quintessential Herb and Garden shop. 

We had delicious homemade food, even better company and a chance to recoup in Helena. I think we will have to come back to experience the ski season here too.
