WA- Evergreen State

We made our way over from Olympic towards Seattle by taking the ferry. It was a fun, quick ride about 30 minutes over (just enough time for a Parks &Recreation episode)

We mostly took the ferry so we could get to Lynnwood and eat at Cafe Rio!!! We love this place and if you are ever on the west coast or in richmond,Va you need to eat here. It originated in St. George where Matt is from so he takes a special home town pride when it comes to eating here. We also did a little birthday shopping and I got a new rain jacket, which will be featured in the next few posts as we weathered lots of rain.
Always a good day when you are eating a delicious tostada

We visited Tacoma and went to the Glass blowing museum. It was a little weird because most of the exhibit was these paintings done by a guy who use to be a glass blower, whom we were not very impressed with. We did watch them make this incredible sea turtle entirely out of glass in their glass blowing exhibition. It looked just like a real turtle when it was done and it was fascinating to watch. It seemed like a very long and rigorous process.

Cool crazy colors in the paintings but we are not much for abstract art

Making the turtle

The gift shop had lots of cool glass pieces in it and it's free!

Outside, in front of  where they help control all the heat from the glass making

They did have a fun exhibit of things kids had imagined and the glass blowers created pieces from their drawings. Kids are pretty funny. I really thought this corn dog was clever.

This crab has six eyes and loves donuts. Like I said kids are so creative and hilarious
We also had the chance to see one of my friends from BYU, Bethany and her family. (Matt was her home teacher too freshmen year) She had us over for a delicious dinner and some fun games. It was so fun seeing her in her element as a Mom, and this girl is a great mom! We loved hanging out with her and her husband Sean for the night. Not pictured are their adorable children too. We really love getting to see old friends.
Bethany!
