The Grand Tetons

The view from where we camped

There are lots of beautiful wild flowers here

The Tetons look unreal, they are absolutely stunning. These towering mountains are actually the smallest of the Rocky Mountain range but they are still growing about a foot every 500 years. Quite the growth spurt I know. The mountains can be seen from pretty much any vantage point in the park.

This lake is called "Donoho", we like to lay claim to it.

There is a French influence in this area, which came from the fur trading company back in the day, they also gave the park it's name. So if you speak French you will know why Matt and I get quite the chuckle out of the name of this national park. Basically grand Tetons translates to big boobs.

There is a big hype about jenny lake campground but we had an insider tip from a former ranger that signal mountain was the place to camp. And she was right we had an amazing view of a lake and the Tetons just behind our campsite.
We went on lots of great little hikes around here, mostly to lakes around the area.

Hiking to Hidden Falls, the trail goes right along Jenny lake.

Hiking to Taggart Lake

Cute bridge on the trail

Taggart Lake

We went a different way back from Taggart lake and it was a little creepy and a lot rainy

For a great view drive up signal mountain where you can see most of the parks valley floor.

We went on Wilson moose road because they said this was the best place to see wildlife. We must have hit it at the wrong time but it was still a beautiful drive and hike to Phelps lake overlook.

I love aspens

We were lucky to find out that during the summers they do have church services at the Jackson lake lodge. The lodge is a must see anyways it is beautiful and has an incredible view of the Tetons.

Top Tips
1. Don't hike to Two Ocean lake or Emma Matilda unless you want to be eaten alive by mosquitos
2. Camp at Signal Mt or stay at Jackson Lodge
3. Look for Marmots
4. We didn't carry Bear spray but if you are going to go on more back country trails I highly suggest investing in some for  peace of mind at least for most of the Northern NPs. Although Matt was disappointed we didn't see any grizzlies (although we heard something in the night by our tent and later learned there had been a bear in the campground so who knows how close we were to one or maybe another black bear.)
